What is a Composite Door?

Composite doors are a fantastic cost-effective alternative to timber. The door panels are generally made from low- or hi-density foam and/or an engineered timber core with a glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) skin.

Unlike most uPVC doors, they are actually designed to look like traditional timber doors - even down to the woodgrain detail on the panels.

Most are also now certified as Secured by Design; this is a police-certified security standard that means they are even more secure than many timber doors.

As with any product, some qualities and brands should be avoided. That said, there are plenty of good quality brands out there that don’t warp or twist.

These are very secure and can offer many years’ trouble-free service. They also won’t require painting.
